/* ==========================================================================
   AN AUSTRIAN ECONOMIST · V4 · THE PRINTED BROADSHEET
   --------------------------------------------------------------------------
   Loaded with media="print" on every leaf (QC refinement R3, July 2026):
   the gazette prints as a clean broadsheet, not as a webpage printout.

   The doctrine:
   · Ink-on-white economy. The aged-paper tile, the band stocks, and the
     sectional washes are the SCREEN's materiality; on real paper they are
     someone else's paper. The page prints white; the type, the rules, the
     frames and the plates carry the identity.
   · Typography and rules preserved. The engraved rule library, the burin
     pull bar, the tailpiece stubs, the crop marks and the figure hairlines
     are ink, not decor: they are forced to print (print-color-adjust)
     even where the reader's "background graphics" box is unticked.
   · Plates print well. Raster engravings drop their multiply blend (over
     white, multiply is identity in theory and an artifact source in
     practice) and keep their brightness lifts, so scan grounds meet the
     white page seamlessly. Inlined SVG plates are content and print whole,
     with their own paper grounds and frames: tipped-in plates. The HTML-
     native figures keep their semantic tints and data bars: a chart that
     loses its bars has lost its argument.
   · No interactive chrome. The directory, the running folio, the reading
     thread, the fold-out affordance, the voice numerals and the catalogue
     filters belong to the screen. Directs and "continued" lines are period
     furniture and stay.
   · URLs are NOT spelled out after links. A made object, not a printout;
     the wordmark on page one says where the gazette lives.
   · Page-break discipline: no heading orphaned from its text, no plate,
     pull or colophon split across a sheet.

   The sheet is unlayered, so its normal declarations already outrank every
   layered screen style; !important appears only where an unlayered essay
   sheet (coin-cannon's essay.css) or an inline style must also yield.
